Michael Chrisohoou is an experienced commercial lawyer who works closely with business owners and their accountants to provide commercial and pragmatic advice.
Michael has assisted a number of large business owners buy and sell businesses and companies that operate both locally and nationally. This transactional experience includes assisting with the:
- sale of a large South Australian retailer with turnover in excess of $100 million;
- sale of a large national ice-cream retailer with in excess of 150 outlets;
- sale of a large network of farm machinery businesses to an interstate buyer; and
- restructure of a local pharmacy group that collectively operates from over 30 locations.
He is equally at home in advising on the sale of smaller companies and businesses and is known for guiding his clients to their commercial objectives. Michael has particular expertise in the sale of pharmacy businesses, having advised on more than 20 pharmacy sale transactions.
Michael also assists clients with the preparation, negotiation and review of a large range of business documents including shareholders’ agreements, finance and security documents, business succession documents, option agreements, employee incentive documents and procurement and supply agreements.
Michael spent a number of years as a specialist tax lawyer and served on the Tax Institute’s South Australian education committee.
His background in tax, as well as his transactional and broader commercial experience, also enables him to provide specialist structuring and restructuring advice to clients. Michael’s experience includes acting for clients in the pharmacy, real property, agriculture and manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining Kain Lawyers, Michael worked for over 7 years at a large Adelaide commercial law firm and prior to that was an accountant at a Big 4 accounting firm.
