With the recent S. Kidman & Co. experience suggesting not all money is equal when it comes to food and agribusiness investment – and continued uncertainty surrounding foreign investment in this sector – leading legal practice Kain Lawyers will host a business breakfast to explore sources, trends and barriers to investment capital for local food and agribusinesses.
The inaugural Kain Lawyers ‘Food and Agribusiness Breakfast’, which is set to become a valued fixture on Adelaide’s annual business calendar, takes place at Adelaide Oval on Thursday October 27, 2016.
Thomas Foods International’s CEO Darren Thomas – who also sits on the SA Economic Development Board – is the keynote speaker. He will be joined by a panel of experts comprising Hindmarsh Partners’ Ryan Ramsay, Maggie Beer Products’ Chantale Millard and Blue Sky’s Kym Morrison to discuss and analyse the major issues confronting the funding of South Australia’s food and agribusinesses.
The free breakfast is limited to 150 guests, with interested parties encouraged to contact Kain Lawyers to secure their place.
Kain Lawyers’ Director and food and agribusiness expert Michael Garry said the event provides a unique forum where major industry participants and advisors, across the private and public sectors, can hear and learn about key issues and opportunities in accessing capital.
“Australian-based food and agribusinesses are in dire need of capital, as the Kidman experience has highlighted,” Mr Garry said.
“This is all the more so as producers look to achieve sustainable growth and improved productivity through investment in new technologies and infrastructure.
“Understanding the investment capital landscape and positioning themselves to take advantage of the most appropriate sources of capital is essential for food and agribusinesses looking to remain competitive.”
Kain Lawyers is confident the breakfast will become a welcome annual event where businesses in the greater food industry sector, their advisors and funders, along with government representatives, come together to network and draw on the knowledge and expertise of their contemporaries – and so achieve greater certainty and sustainability in this crucial sector.
Parties interested in attending the breakfast are asked to contact Kain Lawyers’ Dayna Roberts at [email protected].
