Adelaide based Kain C+C Lawyers achieved a major milestone in September, as lead legal adviser on deals worth more than $0.50 billion in the first nine months of 2015.
Most recently Kain advised SeaLink on its $125m acquisition of Queensland’s Transit Systems Marine. The deal makes SeaLink Australia’s largest marine transport and tourism business with a market capitalisation of more than $250m.
Other deals on which Kain has acted as lead legal adviser this year include Blue Sky Private Equity’s purchase of 10 suburban Adelaide hotels from Independent Pub Group, Blue Lake Milling’s sale to CBH and Accolade’s purchase of Grant Burge Wines for $46 million.
“Half a billion dollars in deals over nine months is a significant milestone for a South Australian legal company. Whilst the value is important, at the end of the day it is just a number. More importantly, for our clients we have been able to deliver agreed commercial outcomes, on time, on budget and without getting in the way of their business.
“From an internal perspective, it is satisfying to be able to consistently offer work of this quality to our team,” said John Kain, Managing Director of Kain C+C Lawyers.
“From a South Australian perspective, it has been rewarding to help the growth of successful South Australian companies like Ahrens Group, KWP!, Ferguson Australia, B.D Farm Paris Creek and Kloud.”
In addition to these lead roles, Kain also advised management in the recently announced $1.6 billion sale of Swisse Wellness to Biostime, a Hong Kong-listed company expanding into the vitamin supplement market.
“I think we are an inherently optimistic business, so it’s exciting to work with companies focused on growth when so many people are looking for the negatives in our economy.
“This spirit of optimism is integral to our mindset and it helps our clients by driving us to find a way to deliver the clients’ outcomes when some might only see obstacles,” said Mr Kain.
