Kain C+C Lawyers act for Blue Lake Milling shareholders in sale to CBH Group.

Adelaide legal company Kain C+C Lawyers has acted for Blue Lake Milling Pty Limited’s shareholders during the recent sale of Blue Lake Milling to the CBH Group for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Bordertown, South Australia, Blue Lake Milling manufactures cereal based foods and food ingredients.  The company specialises in oat milling and the manufacture and distribution of a range of niche cereal flakes, bran, flours and premixes.

The CBH Group was established in Western Australia 1933 and is Australia’s largest co-operative with assets of $2 billion.

Blue Lake Milling CEO Ben Abbot said ‘We have always focused on manufacturing the highest quality cereal products and we’re thrilled that this will continue with an Australian-owned group.”

John Kain and Sarah Chia led the deal for Kain C+C, with James Frearson-Lea advising on the property and environmental aspects of the deal.

“This sale marks a major milestone in the growth and prosperity of Blue Lake Milling and allows this iconic Australian company to take advantage of the opportunities this presents,” John Kain said.

“The deal also allows the Cook family to stay involved in the business they helped build over many decades.”

Blue Lake Milling expanded operations into Dimboola, Victoria in 2006 following a partnership between the Cook and Collins families in 1981. With the business continuing to grow, shareholders felt the time was right to initiate the sale.
