Accolade Wines, the ‘new world’ wine powerhouse has recently completed its acquisition of the iconic Grant Burge wine brand and the Krondorf winery with legal advice from Adelaide’s Kain C+C Lawyers.
Gerry Cawson led the Kain C+C transaction team, with assistance from Sarah Chia on document negotiation and input across the Kain team, including Sallie Emmett on employment issues, James Frearson-Lea on property and environmental issues and Rebecca Halkett on competition and consumer law issues.
“This transaction is significant for Accolade as it cements for them a strong base in one of Australia’s major wine-producing regions, the Barossa Valley,” Mr Cawson said.
The acquisition adds to Accolade’s already well-established presence in McLaren Vale through Hardys, in WA through Houghton, in Margaret River through Brookland Valley, in the Clare Valley through Leasingham and Tasmania via Bay of Fires.
The acquisition included the Grant Burge brand, Burge and Rathbone Fine Wine Merchants business and the Krondorf Winery and will provide the opportunity for the Grant Burge brand to be distributed throughout Accolade’s distribution network, which spans 112 countries.
Established in 2004, Kain C+C Lawyers is a specialist legal consultancy company practicing in corporate, commercial and M&A law with a major focus on the agribusiness industry.
